Jurate Girdvainis

Jurate Girdvainis (b. 1988, Lithuania) is a painter who earned her Master's degree in painting from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2020. During 2019-2020, she took part in the Erasmus exchange program at the Funen Art Academy. She has exhibited her work at various venues, including the international art fair Art Vilnius'21, and regularly participates in exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. 

A central technique in Jurate's Girdvaini's work is the repetition and reinterpretation of the same image. By redrawing or reimagining the same objects multiple times, she uncovers new layers of meaning. Her works use imagery as a therapeutic tool, encouraging the viewer to be fully present in the moment. Instead of analyzing, the aim is to observe, see, and accept what is. By simplifying the backgrounds and stripping away details, the artist creates a still, frozen space that invites the viewer to pause and fully experience the present moment, free from the distractions and filters of the modern world. 

Jurate's Girdvaini's art explores her reflections on the fast-paced, overcrowded contemporary world, where she herself seeks moments of peace and quiet. While she stays attuned to contemporary culture, the impact of social media, and consumerism, her work deliberately steps back from this chaos, offering a space of calm and contemplation.



Jurate Girdvainis (g. 1988, Lietuva) yra tapytoja, 2020 m. baigusi tapybos magistro studijas Vilniaus Dailės Akademijoje. 2019-2020 m. ji dalyvavo „Erasmus“ mainų programoje Funen Art Academy. Dalyvavo Art Vilnius'21 tarptautinėje meno mugėje. Menininkė dalyvauja parodose Lietuvoje ir užsienyje.

Jurates Girdvainis kūryboje viena svarbiausių technikų – žaidimas tuo pačiu vaizdu. Menininkė perpiešia ar kitaip perkuria tuos pačius objektus daugybę kartų, taip atverdama naujas jų prasmes. Jos darbuose vaizdas veikia kaip terapinė priemonė būti čia ir dabar – tikslas nėra analizuoti, o tiesiog žiūrėti, matyti ir priimti tai, kas yra. Išvalydama paveikslų fonus ir atsisakydama detalių, menininkė sukuria erdvę, kurioje žiūrovas gali stabtelėti ir patirti akimirką, atsiribodamas nuo šiuolaikinio pasaulio filtrų.

Jurates Girdvainis kūryba atspindi jos refleksijas apie greitą ir perpildytą šiuolaikinį pasaulį, kuriame pati menininkė stengiasi atrasti ramybę ir tylą. Nors ji aktyviai seka šiuolaikinę kultūrą, socialinių tinklų dinamiką ir vartojimo įpročius, jos darbuose siekiama atsitraukti nuo šios chaotiškos realybės.
